One thing at a time

Everyone says multitasking is smart. Everyone is wrong. Here's what I learned about doing one thing at a time.

I tried to do two things at once. It never worked well. The results were always worse than when I did one thing properly. I always ended up more tired and stressed out.

Still, I kept trying. Audiobooks during walks. Podcasts while cleaning. Shows during workouts. Everyone said this was smart. Everyone was wrong.

Now I keep things simple. One task at a time. When I read, I read. When I work, I work. When I'm with my kids, I'm with my kids. Everything got easier.

The world pushes us to do more at once. But doing less means doing better. That's all there is to it.
